Tricolored Scarf


This tasseled scarf is crocheted in stripes of simple chain spaces. Worked here in a smooth yarn. It would look equally attractive In a variety of textured yarns. Size 9” Wide x 84” long, excluding fringe. Materials Sport yarn: 6oz in main color A 31/2 oz in contrasting color B 13/4 oz in contrasting color C Size I crochet hook Gauge 3 sps and approx 5 rows to 4” over pat worked on size I hook To save time, take time to check Gauge. Note Use 2 strands of yarn throughout. When using only one skein of one color, Work from center and the outside of The skein at the same time. Scarf Using 2 strands of A, ch 35 and beg pat as foll: Base Row 1 sc in 5th chain from hook * ch 5, skip 4 ch, 1 sc in next ch, rep from* to end. Turn. 7 ch spaces. 1st row Ch 4, 1 sc in first sp, * ch 5, 1 sc in next space, rep from * to end. Turn 7 ch sps. Last row forms pat. Cont. in pat, working in stripe sequence of 18 more rows A, 10 rows B, 10 rows C, 10 rows B, and 20 rows A. Fasten off. To finish Weave in all loose ends. Fringe Cut rem A and C into lengths approx 18” long. Using 4 strands each of A and C, knot a Tassel through each ch sp on both short ends as follows: Fold strand in half to form a loop and pull tightly to secure tassel knots. Trim Tassels.
